Karen Snow : Naturopathic Doctor
“Halfway through my university studies I connected my thoughts and beliefs about health to a career choice, but this journey towards Naturopathic Medicine began long before then. My interest in health dates back to a young age, when I began running, playing school sports and teaching myself about nutrition. I took the opportunity to learn about health and the body any chance I had throughout high school and university and my desire to improve health naturally continued to grow.
After learning about Naturopathic Medicine in university, everything clicked and my decision was made. The human body is amazing. When it is naturally supported, health and wellness improves and the body is better prepared to prevent illness and disease.”
Dr. Karen Snow received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science from the University of Guelph. She went on to pursue her passion for health and preventative medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Dr. Snow successfully completed a four-year medical program and graduated as a Naturopathic Doctor.
During her studies at CCNM, courses included pathology and diagnostics, physical examination, anatomy, physiology, natural therapeutics (clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, Asian medicine), to name a few. She completed a twelve-month internship at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic in Toronto, and spent one semester working at a satellite clinic providing naturopathic treatment and support for HIV/AIDS patients.
While at CCNM, Dr. Snow travelled to Ometepe, Nicaragua on a brigade with Natural Doctors International (NDI), bringing naturopathic medicine to those in need in the community. Dr. Snow grew up on a farm in Cookstown, Ontario and has always been active in sports. In her spare time, Dr. Snow enjoys walking her dog Buddy, running, yoga, and spending time with friends and family. She also volunteers as a Junior high youth group leader in the Barrie community.
